Here is a little introduction about who we are and what we are looking to achieve. |

We are a broad coalition of San Francisco low-income tenants, environmentalists, seniors, youth, LGBT, people of color, persons with disabilities, and religious and homeless people who believe that access to transportation is a human right. We organized in response to a 2005 proposal to raise fares and cut services to close MUNI's budget gap. We held several rallies, turned out hundreds of people to city meetings, boarded buses to do outreach to everyday MUNI riders, and launched a postcard campaign that led to more than 3,000 people demanding no fare hikes or service cuts. Our efforts helped stop hikes to the adult Fast Pass and the Senior, Youth and Disabled Passes. It also helped stop the worst of the proposed service cuts, including massive cuts to the Owl lines. We will continue to fight for transit justice in San Francisco, and want your help. Come join us! |
